I'm starting to feel like I'll never have time to write again! How do you competent, working people manage to do this? *is not competent* Actually, I used to be able to do both, but seem to have lost the knack. Random meme I've just thought up: Leave me a comment in my journal stating your CURRENT favorite fictional character (this can be from movies, books, comics, video games, etc.), then tell me why he or she is really doing it for you (and yes, historical fiction is okay, too). To start, my current favorite fictional character is (predictably enough) Gilderoy Lockhart...still. He's my favorite because I find him tremendously amusing and I love his loud outfits and total ineptitude. And dammit, I still love that he's wearing green during the Slytherin/Gryffindor match in the movie. Why would he wear green to such a match if he wasn't supporting Slytherin? Yeah. Because I'm lazy and rude, I haven't looked at my friend's list. Homework, you know...as well as personal pursuits. On a whim, I was at Waldenbooks today and stopped to look at my old X-titles...something I haven't done in months, perhaps even a year...not since Grant Morrison totally ruined the entire X-Men universe by making Scott Summers (Cyclops) start kissy-face-dating Emma Frost (the White Queen). In particular, I picked up New X-Men because it looked to me like Mr. Erik Magnus Lehnsherr was going to be getting up to some of his good ol' Magneto high steppin' ways, but when I opened it up and looked it through, I got the shock of my life - QUENTIN QUIRE IS ALIVE!!! :D I know this probably means very little to anyone unless you either know me really, really well or read X-Men very carefully. Quentin had himself a mighty four issue run about two or three years ago and died in issue #138 (I think...this is off the top of my head). In fact, the tattoo on my inner right forearm is my little memorial to the much beloved character I thought I'd never see again. If you want to read more about him or his story, you can click the 'x-men' tag at the bottom of this entry. The only other entries I have about X-Men (here, anyway) both deal with Quentin's original story arc in New X-Men. Stupid fucking Grant Morrison, anyway. *grumbles* Also, I went to see The Devil's Rejects this afternoon. I was irritated that it had already started when we walked in. The shooting upon the farmhouse had not yet commenced, but it was about to happen. I don't know what I missed, but I know I missed something. roseviper13 and I both enjoyed it a lot, but I felt it lacked some of the oomph that made House of 1000 Corpses so much fun. This is not to say that it was bad (not by any means), but it certainly wasn't as amusing as I might've hoped. Because I love that messed-up family so much, I spent most of the movie clutching the armrests of my seat and telling Otis and Baby to be careful...because damn, they made me awfully nervous. All in all, I'd have to say that Rob Zombie stayed true to his characters, but didn't seem to love his script as much this time around. I missed Karen Black and Robert Mukes (Mama Firefly and Rufus jr.), but their stand-ins (and speaking of X-Men, the fellow who played R.J. this time around was Sabretooth in the first X-Men movie) were not bad...not that R.J. had long to live, a lamentable fact. Cinematographically speaking, too, I didn't feel as happy with what Rob did. I preferred the lower budget House of 1000 Corpses, which used camera and effects techniques that really added something loopy to the movie, but was effective. Those people NEED to be loopy, and the effects used the first time around accomplished that. Still though, the movie was really enjoyable and a very sad closing (to me) for one of my favorite movie families of all time...I now realize that I love them so much that I subconsciously decided to make Evan a missing family member of theirs...or so it seems to me. But now, some coffee and more study of OSI Layers. Tags: x-men Ich fühle: sad Ich höre: a whining chihuahua & chuzzles

Very tired...was referred to a prosthodontist for my mouth, so we'll see where that goes. I couldn't write today. I was just too exhausted, and still am. Tomorrow, while I'm in school, I'll test to see if we're able to get back into LJ from there. When I first started, we could, but around the first of April, we had to fall under the same rules as the rest of the county's K-12 schools and LJ became off-limits. If it's been amended (they were discussing that, since I attend a vocational school that only instructs adults), I will log on and do the memes I saw in the journals of my favorite people. I haven't decided what I'll do if they haven't amended it...but maybe I'll get more time to write again. Anyway, I send lots of love to all, because I will definitely miss everyone. :( Ich fühle: just...blah

With many, many thanks to luciademedici, I was finally able to bitch slap eFiction into yesterday afternoon...which is good for me, because that means my Harry Potter Minor Characters Archive is slowly (but surely) under way now. Of course, there are several obstacles ahead of me: 1) I'm a total retard in all things visual 2) I'm going it solo 3) I don't have a good head for catchy names, slogans, etc. 4) I really don't have the money to advertise it like I should 5) I really don't have the money to even get it its own domain name like I should 6) Even if I actually DID have the money for a domain name, what would I call it? ...and so forth. But all this makes me think something, and that is that I really should be asking luciademedici if she needs people to donate money to her project, because I can only imagine what something like that (bigger, stronger, faster, more beautiful) is costing her. By the way, this is my last free day of writing. I really lament my Lily/Quirrell story most of all, which I just barely updated with a scarcely-read chapter 2...out of 13. Of course, I will have plenty of time to write both in school and out of school, but as the rest of you who work and/or school in addition to writing, your mundane life tires you out and makes writing very difficult. Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that I'd like to take requests for drabbles (I'm going to shoot for 500 words or less). Please comment here and give me a few ideas for characters IN ANY FANDOM I CAN WRITE who you'd like to see a story about, and I will try my hand at it. If you don't know what fandoms I write in, you can always ask, but X-Men, X-Files, Batman, Harry Potter, Aeon Flux, the original Star Wars Trilogy, Silent Hill, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Stephen King stories, Hellraiser, and Halloween are a few of my better ones. You can get a better idea what I'll write from my interest list. No one will ask for this, but I can even write historical fiction about World War I or World War II, if you want. The reason that I want to do this is because I'm feeling the need to improve my shorter writings AND I have an idea I'll be given characters that I rarely or never use, which is also good practice. Of course, who knows how long it'll take me to do this...but the idea is here. When I'm done (IF I'm done), I'll post them here in my journal. For the record, I already have the following characters down: roseviper13 requested HP femmeslash - Lily/Pansy's aunt sionnain requested HP slash - Evan/Rabastan wendiigo jokingly requested HP slash - Hagrid/Flitwick lunalelle requested HP genfic - Antonin Dolohov flickguy requested STNG genfic - Tasha Yar (w/Wes or Beverly) flickguy requested Halloween genfic - Michael Myers kill scene luciademedici requested HP genfic - Evan Rosier, Blaise Zabini (familial) Please keep in mind that you don't have to give me couples. In fact, I write erotica pretty poorly, so you're apt to get a better piece if you just give me a character for genfic, or even a few characters for a genfic - but I'll make the effort to do whatever I'm asked. Please feel free to make multiple requests (this includes the people I have listed above) so that I can pick and choose. Tags: fanfic Ich fühle: anxious

Yoinked from luciademedici... If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, post exactly one sentence/paragraph/whatever from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favourite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else -- this is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).So this means ALL of you! This doesn't mean fanfic or a story...it can be an original poem, or song lyrics, or anything, and it can be one piece or more, so I want to see things from you guys. :) CURRENT PIECES:Vaevictus: Woe to the Vanquished - Harry Potter fandom, stars Evan Rosier Pushing the two sides of Fenwick's midsection aside like unruly curtains over a stage play, Rosier finds the perfect blue-gray coils of the blood traitor's intestines looped up inside just like they're supposed to be. With a smile, he reaches inside and pokes them, then moves on to caress the other organs, all of them still warm and pulsing with blood. Common Misconceptions Harry Potter fandom (AUish), stars Snape and an OC "Come along, William," the mother said, pausing to give Snape a look that was both scared and a bit repulsed. Though he supposed he could understand her response (he knew there was something unsettling about him that women, especially, seemed to react against), it didn't do much for his mood. He had never considered himself attractive, but he was certain he wasn't Quasimodo come down from the bell tower, either. Looking back over his shoulder, he saw the girl pulling on her son's arm out into the chill of the night and shook his head in disgust. Devotional Harry Potter fandom, stars Rodolphus Lestrange Rodolphus has borne a hatred for this place for several years now, but it's not prison he hates, it's the building itself. What good can come of a place that's known nothing but murder and depravity? Azkaban is ancient and has been filled with men and women who have bled, pissed, shat and secretly orgasmed their way through their sentences. The prison has known dangling corpses from makeshift ropes, the rape of inmates by both guard and peer, murders in the dining area, and vile, desperate sex in the showers. So if it really is as Severus says, that all things have magical potential by nature of their ability to be manipulated by spells cast upon them, then what must it be like for Azkaban, which has been abused by Dark Wizards and Witches since time out of mind? Confession is Good for the Soul Harry Potter fandom, stars Lucius and Snape Lucius Malfoy lifts an eyebrow in typical patrician elegance and takes a sip of coffee. The unfamiliar dips and ridges of his lidded styrofoam cup seem to confuse him, but he manages to look good drinking it, anyway. ( and some more memes under this cut )Anyway, stories to come on Monday, I guess, because I won't have time to type them up before then. The dog is having another occurance of her back problem, so that's a vet visit, and far worse, the wife is having her SIXTH migraine of the month and needs to go to her doctor, too. My poor babies! :( Tags: memes Ich fühle: good Ich höre: "Golden Girls", on TV

Oh, dear God. This is so terribly funny. I was laughing so hard that I was in tears only about a quarter of the way down the page. It's a series of screenshots from a DVD of Revenge of the Sith, which is captioned in Engrish. If I understand correctly, these captions are based on what's already been translated into Chinese from English, so it's an English-Chinese-English captioned film. I was smiling during the first few pictures, but the tears began when when poor pilot being shot down apparently cries out, "He's in my behind!"...or so the captions state. But believe me, it only got worse from there. One of the great highlights for me was General Grievous insulting Anakin by calling him "Smelly boy!" Anyway, if you've seen the movie or are a fan of Engrish, or happen to enjoy both, you absolutely CANNOT overlook this link: http://www.winterson.com.nyud.net:8090/2005/06/episode-iii-backstroke-of-west.htmlI really wish I could find a way to own this copy for myself. Who needs MST3K when there's this? By the way, this link has some different screenshots of the same film: http://middlekingdomstories.blog-city.com/crazy_subtitles.htmTags: fun links Ich fühle: giggly Ich höre: Traveling Wilburys - Margarita
